Orthopaedic Associates / Deaconess Clinic
Henderson, KY Location
Henderson was a new market for Orthopaedic Associates. Because of this, they needed a visible location. The chosen location caused the building to have four “fronts” where it can be viewed from all directions. The design then needed to reflect a front door from every angle.
Orthopaedic Associates and Deaconess Clinic teamed together in this project to create a medical office where patients can come to be treated for either orthopaedic injuries or to see a family medicine practitioner. The two entities share a common waiting area but separate practices. Orthopaedic Associates provides state-of-the-art equipment within the facility to treat patients’ injuries and includes a one stop shop for patients with everything onsite for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.
Architectural highlights of the building include floor to ceiling windows that provide a fresh, uplifting environment through an expanse of natural daylight, as well as emanating a glow of light at night. The most important architectural aspect of this facility though is the layout of the floor plan. A great deal of consideration was given to patient flow through the clinical cycle. Support functions such as rehab, lab and x-ray are appropriately situated near the waiting room while exam lanes are centralized to reduce the length of travel for physicians and nurses.
This new facility is energy efficient and incorporates reflective roof materials, highly insulated walls, low water consumption plumbing fixtures and a geothermal heating and cooling system. The attention and forethought given to the energy efficiency will contribute significantly to the vitality of the practice.
The brand-new medical office has been a welcome addition to the Henderson community. Patients now enjoy having a convenient location close to home for their medical care.
