Deaconess Midtown Hospital
Family Practice Renovation
The Family Medicine Residency Program is a fully accredited, unopposed hospital-based Family Medicine Residency where Residents provide a full range of medical services. Through this renovation project, the physicians and residents work in a new clinic where they can teach, learn and provide exceptional patient care. Services offered at this location include immunizations, prenatal care, physicals, care for occupational and sports injuries, minor procedures and repair of lacerations, etc.
Hafer designed this building in the 80’s when it was the Heart Center. Now, Hafer was hired to transform the tired facility into a modern, efficient family medicine clinic. This center offers 21 exam rooms as well as offices for residents, faculty and support staff. It boasts the newest technology and is equipped with an electronic medical record system.
Three pods were created to segregate patient populations and each were designated with a unique color. The color coded finishes ease wayfinding for patients. The materials chosen throughout the facility are aesthetically pleasing as well as durable enough to withstand daily use of a crowded, busy medical office.
The end result is a medical office that provides an excellent environment for residents to hone their diagnostic skills and for the community to receive quality medical treatment.
