Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent

Patient Room Renovation

The Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent is committed to providing comprehensive pediatric services that support both children and their families. As part of this mission, the hospital is renovating patient rooms to create a more accessible, supportive and comforting experience.

Two of these newly renovated rooms are already complete and serving patients: the Fairy Tale Room and the Champion Room. The Fairy Tale Room is designed to transport patients into the pages of a storybook. Inspired by the annual fundraiser ball at West Baden, the room features whimsical wall designs, including a cartoon rendition of the historic hotel and woodland characters.

The Champion Room inspires young patients to feel like champions. The headwall features graphics representing a wide array of sports, while the footwall is styled like a stadium filled with cheering fans. The wall graphics are vinyl and double as protection against typical wear and tear. All artwork was created in-house in collaboration with Ascension St. Vincent.

Several additional rooms are under construction. The overall goal of the renovation project is to transition patient rooms from double occupancy to single occupancy to help with infection control. Additional improvements include larger, more accessible bathrooms; additional storage options; and a convertible sleeper couch.

These renovated spaces are thoughtfully crafted to provide children and their families with a positive, imaginative environment that provides some comfort during a challenging time.
