Boardwalk Pipeline Partners
Corporate Office Building
Hafer designed a new, two-story office building to accommodate 250 employees for Boardwalk Pipeline Partners. With this new building came the opportunity to provide their employees with a fresh, uplifting environment to come to work to each day. It includes conference rooms, a mix of open and private offices, an employee break room, work rooms and high-density filing areas. The modern space features exposed structural support and a color palette of grey tones with accents of color throughout all the spaces including the two-story vestibule. One of the unique architectural features of this building are the large areas of curtain wall overlooking the Ohio River.
As a critical facility, federal law mandates that the gas control room in this building be highly secure and able to function at all times. To achieve these goals, Hafer designed the space so it was located deep in the interior of the building with heavy structure aimed at withstanding natural disasters. Security was achieved by having individuals pass through two sets of access controls to gain access to the area. The room was also designed with standalone power and HVAC systems to further increase the isolation of the space.
Since opening, the employees are thoroughly enjoying their new office space. With all offices flooded with natural daylight, employees are experiencing higher productivity and enhanced health contributing to a better overall working experience.
