WVU Medicine
Southgate Medical Complex
From retail to medical office building, this previous box store is now a prime location to access quality healthcare from WVU Medicine. Outfitting the existing space to fit the client’s needs was seamless as it was fundamentally shell space at the start of the project. Recently opened, this new clinic provides much needed healthcare to the south side of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and offers primary and urgent care along with pediatric care and diagnostics.
The front façade of wood-grain metal panel and stone detail makes a big impact as it no longer resembles a traditional retail entrance. Now, the entry offers an awning and drop-off to better accommodate patients’ needs. Inside, the project features exam rooms for primary and urgent care services and rooms for x-ray and EKG/ultrasound. Urgent care and primary care spaces were designed separately to offer a clear organization of departments and a better workflow for staff. The interiors feature natural stone, luxury vinyl plank flooring and neutral colors to complement WVUM branding. Finishes were selected for their durability in a medical environment.
This new WVUM clinic is reaching an underserved population in south Parkersburg. Additional expansion at the shopping center is already underway for WVUM.
