Health Professions Renovation Phase I & II
The College of Nursing and Health Professions offers 12 academic programs and has always been very successful. With classes at capacity, it was necessary to renovate an entire floor to provide more space. The project was split into two phases so that classes could still occur during construction. Four balconies were also enclosed with glass to make room for an additional 4,000 sf.
The first phase included incorporating a new state-of-the-art teaching kitchen which provides a hands-on learning experience to nutrition students. It features cooking demonstration stations where the work can be viewed from large screen tv’s above and a lab space for completing anthropometrics, body composition, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol measurements. A new science lab, dietetics room, gerontology lab, offices and student lounges were also incorporated in this phase.
As part of the second phase, all new offices were created along the perimeter of the building giving beautiful views to the outdoors. Classrooms were invigorated with colorful finishes, flexible furniture and the latest technology. Additional spaces included an informatics lab, sonography lab and multiple meeting and conference spaces.
The HVAC system was also upgraded as part of the project, providing a more efficient and economical solution. Lighting throughout the floor was also replaced to include LED fixtures.
