Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp
New Administrative Services
EVSC Supportive Services, a warehouse and maintenance facility, was completely renovated to consolidate all of the corporation’s administrative functions into this one location. With an opportunity like this to create a brand new workplace for these employees, EVSC sought to create an atmosphere that would positively affect the office culture. These employees were previously stationed in individual enclosed offices. The new design promotes collaboration amongst employees. Low panel workstations which at first were resisted by the staff, were embraced as the interaction increased and sense of teamwork improved. Small informal meeting rooms were incorporated throughout to provide a relaxed atmosphere for casual meetings. Employees enjoy the new modern spaces that are filled with natural daylight and the areas that were designed for interaction on projects.
The lobby is often the first impression of visitors to the School Corporation so it was important the design of the lobby reflected the modern, progressive nature of the School Corporation. The lobby showcases both student art and the EVSC Hall of Fame.
In addition to the interior renovations, exterior improvements were also made to the facility in order to blend in with the adjacent EVSC Technology and Innovation Center previously designed by Hafer. A connector was built to allow for ease of travel between locations. Located in downtown Evansville, the new Administrative Services and connected Technology and Innovation Center create a coherent and progressive image for EVSC.
