Deaconess Gateway Hospital

The Endoscopy Unit renovation doubled the current capacity of prep rooms, recovery rooms and added a large procedure room. All of the rooms were designed so the expanded nurse station serves as the central hub, serving both prep and recovery. With the visitor’s comfort in mind, the remodeled waiting area included cozy seating in a variety of intimate settings equipped with technology and power for visitor’s use. A wood and multi-colored acrylic feature wall, created by a local artist, borders the waiting room area.

Around the corner from the Endoscopy Unit, the OR waiting area was enhanced as well. Since most people waiting in this area are there for extended periods of time, the furniture was selected and organized in a manner conducive to providing the most comfort. There is a variety of lounge chairs and booth seating that are flexible to move about. A coffee bar was also added here along with a new, custom reception desk.

All of these improvements have really enhanced the experience a patient and their families have when visiting the hospital. The staff have also enjoyed a greater efficiency due to the reorganized layout of the unit.
