Ascension Hospital for Women & Children

Ascension Hospital for Women & Children’s mission is to provide a special birth experience in a beautiful, comfortable space with the most advanced care. They know the atmosphere is important to the overall patient and family experience, so they wanted a phased renovation of the mother-baby wings and nurse station to create a spa-like setting.

These spacious suites received a complete refresh and now feature queen-size, pillow-top mattresses; large TVs; comfortable couches and recliners; and large, private toilet and shower facilities. Some of the suites, used after cesarean births, have the traditional hospital bed in addition to the queen-size. Long windows and light-colored finishes create a bright and airy space. The suites not only have ample space for mother and baby, but also for family, providing a comfortable experience for everyone.

That experience continues beyond the mother-baby suites and into a parents’ lounge where comfortable seating and other amenities give parents and siblings a place to relax, catch a breath and maybe grab a cup of coffee. A revamped, centralized nurse station offers improved staff efficiency and allows nurses direct line of sight down both mother-baby wings, improving safety for mothers, babies and families. The same spa-like setting is carried throughout the nurse station with light-colored finishes and peaceful graphics that complement the space.

In addition to improvements to the mother-baby area, the hospital also updated its main lobby area (See the project here) and is currently renovating the OB emergency department, as well as labor, delivery and recovery. All of these updates help Ascension Hospital for Women & Children achieve their mission of providing a special place for the birth of children.
