Matthew Maloney, AIA
Architect
Matthew brings to Hafer a wealth of experience designing for a variety of markets. One of his greatest qualities is that he listens. He listens to fully understand what clients need and want, which allows him to tackle projects with understanding and vigor. He’s also a problem-solver, a great attribute for an architect, as he’s able to fine-tune a building, site or space in ways to best utilize them.
Matthew is very much a nature person and loves spending time out in a forest or kayaking on a lake (Fun fact: his family has made it a goal to visit every national park in the U.S.). And of course, Matthew’s love for nature influences his architectural interests as he’s fascinated by biomimicry, the practice of emulating elements of nature in design.
Matthew hails from the Chicagoland area but now loves calling Southern Illinois home. He and his wife, Rebecca, have a young daughter, Natalie, as well as two cats, Luca and Sheba. In addition to spending time in nature, Matthew likes to travel, read, draw, and work on digital models and animation in his free time.
